Vermillion City, Macross Vermillion Fleet
Outer space, outside Earth sphere Lagrange point 1
December 11th, AD 2880,16:20 colony time

The bustling crowd of Vermillion City's masses milled around a comparatively small stage that had been set up in the city center. A long row of digital screens lined the bottom of the stage as well as spread equally across a long system of trusses sprawling out among the people. Just outside the swathes of citizens, three men sat outside a small restaurant: Kazuya and his wingmen, Rou and Van. The black haired pilot was busy typing away on his phone, communicating with his sister about the event, meanwhile the large Zentran tore into a big bag of steamed meat buns as if he hadn't eaten in days.

"I'm actually kind of surprised we got off today," remarked Van. "Yeah, especially after Kazuya basically scrapped the Mirage," came a quick cut from Rou, his mouth rather full. Kazuya stopped his texting and simply leered in response. "True, we can't really get stuck on air show duty that way. Maybe you ought to pull that more often, Kazuya." Kazuya finally pocketed his phone and leaned back casually in his seat. "Heck no," he responded quickly, "Sophie was seconds from scrapping me, and I don't want to find out what Stella can do with a breaker bar." He looked up at the artificial sky of the colony ship's dome. "I heard the program's gonna do something with the roof anyhow, they probably don't want anyone flying right now."

The crowd stirred and increased in volume slightly. A short convoy of stately white vehicles slowly rolled along the street in the direction of the stage, the middle of which was adorned with a small pinion with the Spacy's emblem. "There goes the captain," said Rou, nearly finished with his food already. The convoy went by slowly and eventually came to a stop in a barred off area next to the stage.

All doors of the vehicles opened nearly simultaneously as brightly dressed men and women stepped out of them, the crimson hues of their dress and avian inspired lapels marking their official status as Vermillion military. After the soldiers had made their arrival a single other door opened and out stepped captain Alkrijn Will, his darkly colored cap and cloak standing out among his red covered subordinates.

"Cap's pulling out the stops today," commented Kazuya as the captain smiled and waved humbly to the crowd. Rou replied, "Well, it's basically the second part of Vermillion's mission; remember how big of a party dropping off the Azure was?" Finishing off his last bun, the Zentran added, "Also if you think about it, returning the Vermillion to Earth was his father's dream." Rou cited Alkrijn's father and predecessor as captain who died of an illness some time after the Vermillion and Azure parted ways. "Earth itself is a pretty big deal too; there was a whole war for it you know?"

The captain ascended a set of steps up to the center of the stage where a sleek podium has been set. With one more wave, Alkrijn signed for the crowd to settle and began to speak.

"Good day to you all, good citizens of Vermillion City. Indeed, what a good day it is, for this will be perhaps the most historic moment in the nearly 300 years of mankind's journey across the universe. As you all know by now, we are about to cross the threshold into the Sol system- which should be happening... Now." The captain held up his hand, indicating the short flash of prismatic light across the city as the colony ship disengaged its space fold.

Chromatic ripples spread across the a point in the void as space itself contorted, the source of this evident as it thrust it's way out of the fold point. The great red ship towing an even greater pod of a colony, the Macross Vermillion and its city had arrived. Some moments later, numerous other fold points cropped up around the Vermillion and ships of myriad shapes and sizes emerged to catch up with their flagship. The great cavitations of the spatial ship wake would no doubt be quickly picked up by instruments across the system, if not for the many fold signatures than fir the momentary but great gravitational anomaly.

A distant steady whir above the crowd signalled the opening of the reflective dome of the colony ship opening up into the new field of stars, the artificial sky dimming and fading to reveal the Earth sphere.

A series of lines across the glass of the ship drew the attention of those watching to a group of circles. In the center of one was a blue pinprick of light, with a larger circle to the side with a zoomed in image. "As a half Zentran, I am proud to be the one to present to you the Cradle of Humanity. Ladies and gentleman of the Macross Vermillion fleet; Earth!"
