History:
Perhaps the most contentious word within the city is 'Memory', and thereby History with it. Forty years ago something happened which left the city in rubble, what exactly this something is remains uncertain but the recollections of those within the city and its immediate area do not extend beyond this point. Whatever happened regardless of its true nature was dubbed 'The Event' by those that could not remember.
Those years since then, the city once in ruins has been gradually rebuilt and expanded beyond its original scope. Seemingly thriving in the aftermath with continued growth despite its secluded nature. All doing so under the guidance of the Paradigm Corporation, who in those formative years was absolutely vital to the process of reconstruction and afterwards locked itself down as not just a key player but the key player within the city forcing out the senators which had held power before early on in the process. All business and services now pass through it one way or another, be it the money printed from the Mint or the newspapers from the press. Even law enforcement answers to the Corporation first and foremost.
Memories however, are rumored to be the real keys to the city even beyond Paradigm's reach. Or perhaps they are as some others say a way to grand riches beyond belief. It is in the massive underground network beneath the city these memories are said to remain, there and beneath the waves just off the shores. Yet, outside of the city itself information about its possible past exists as well though mostly lost to time and conflict, a city did exist where now there stands Paradigm City.
But its story ends where that of Paradigm begins, the unknown. Contact with it lost before humanity abandoned earth, and in the scorched earth of that time of strife no one could find out whether the city of Zadar had survived the Zentraedi.
In the years since there are those who have tried to go to the site of the city, as satellite footage has confirmed something existing there still but those who go there return with tales of monsters encircling the city, descriptions ranging from serpents the length of a sky scraper to ginormous machines clad in darkness. Preventing their approach before even the horizon were in view. Those tales however, only get told by those that make it back alive.
But, that has changed. It is almost now as if the city itself wishes for it to be known, the monsters have hidden and the path seems clear for any who wish to come to visit.
Look and Feel:
Paradigm city itself is clad in permanent overcast giving rise to iconic grandiose domes, each containing an artificial sun and day-night cycle for its denizens. Those however are something of a luxury in the city itself as the vast majority of its denizens live outside the domes in the grey outside. Even if the architectural stylings do not change much between the in and outside of them, if something is in the style of 'Art Deco' or its substyle of 'Streamline Moderne' it fits right into the city and its surroundings.
The same very much goes for its denizens, those same styles continue in the garments of both lower class but especially middle and upper class citizens of the city. Garments one would associate with media set during the prohibition era likewise are very on brand for those living within the City bounds.

For as long as anyone can remember Ninoslav has been in charge of the Paradigm Corporation, whether this has been for good or ill changes little about the fact that in doing so he has become the single most influential man within the city whose reach touches every facet of daily life within it. Despite this however, he seems ill inclined to have either the city or the corporation grow beyond their current state. No projects for rebuilding more of the ruins strewn outside the city's bounds have been initiated on any scale resembling that of the projects just after The Event in over ten years whatever reasons he may have for this are not any he has shared with the public regardless.
