Annette Grandis has always known she was different. From a young age, she had always had two loves in her life: technology and blood. The child that would grow up to be a pilot spent most of her formative years being shunned by her peers for the depths of her two loves and how she seemed to always have an answer to problems that should have been too complex for someone of her age and modest upbringing to be able to solve. It wasn’t that she was a genius. It wasn’t that she was cheating off stolen test papers. It was The Voice.
From about six years old, The Voice was in the back of her mind like a comforting white noise in her brain. It only rose in intensity when she needed to solve a problem beyond her abilities, but Annette was never scared of The Voice. She recognized very quickly that it was merely her own voice echoing from a point later in her life. That knowledge gave the child a small smug sense of invincibility: after all, how could she talk from the future if she was dead?
As she grew up, she managed to leverage her problem-solving skills and near-supernatural leverage with technology issues into employment with the United Nations. Swiftly following her employment she spun her influence into acquiring her machine of choice from the fleet of Macross City’s older machines, and made a name for herself even faster than her more mundane rise on the battlefield. Annette grew into minor fame as a relentless duellist and earned the appellation Cerise Chaser; a tireless hunter and ruthless exposer of secrets.
In recent times, she has found herself stationed mostly at Macross City to oversee efforts in Asia against the BETA menace. And she also wonders what the blood of the BETA tastes like…
