Faction Name: Erebonian Empire / Erebonia
Government: Constitutional Monarchy
Capital: Heimdallr
Territories: TBD (Northern Europe and Scandinavia?)
Population: TBD (60 Million? (Based on calculations from the stated population and current population of the region mentioned above))
Goals: Conquest of surrounding areas
History:

The Nation of Erebonia had its creation in the dark ages after mankind had abandoned earth, built upon the ruins of what once was. To say the young nation had it rough in its infancy was an understatement, locally known as the “Dark Ages” by Erebonians during these years the nation crumbled, rose out of the ashes and repeated this process numerous times in contests of strength with its neighbors eventually stabilizing under the rule of the Des Ronnough family who in turn earned themselves the mantle of being the Imperial lineage.

These are also the times that the Divine Knights first are recorded, six almost legendary machines which have appeared time and time again when conflict arises within Erebonia, be it external or internal. Machines who connect with their 'awakeners', their movements following those that their pilot would outside of the cockpit and in turn damage inflicted upon the Divine Knight reflecting upon the Awakener. Yet these six have yet to all appear at the same time. To complicate matters even more a seventh Divine Knight exists. Even if there are very few who know of its existence.

All during its existence, be it during these Dark Ages or after Erebonia has ever been warlike. Its gaze upon its borders and beyond, an expansionist mindset which has made it a notable military power. The past few decades it has consolidated its power giving respite to those around it. Yet, that period is coming to a close as the world rumbles awake once more Erebonia sets its attention outwards.

Look and Feel:

The Empire of Erebonia is militaristic in nature, as such in any of its major civilization centers one is sure to encounter soldiers of the imperial army not too far. These are usually clad in purple yet depending on the regional nobility may be clad in differing colors.

Out in the country however the empire can have an entirely different feel to it, where it is sometimes oddly calm and serene compared to the civilization centers which are its cities. Whether one’s clothes are simple and practical or ornate and decorative is usually a good way to gauge the standing from commoner to nobility.

Notable individuals:

Name: Emperor Gauvein Des Ronnough
Age: 43
Occupation: 8th Emperor of Erebonia
Biography:

Born during wartime, Gauvein oversaw the conclusion of the previous war after the death of his father caused him to take the throne early. During that time he has earned himself the praise of the populace for his efforts to improve standards of living and consolidate the newly gained territories all while fortifying Erebonia’s sense of unity.

Those that meet him describe him as a stern man of few words but many actions, who through his own silence can bring that upon a room and demand their attention without a word. Yet during his youth he was a jovial man, the decades of being head of state seemingly having gotten the better of him.

In spite of his change of demeanor in his later years his popularity has remained consistent both in approval among the common folk and disapproval among the nobility, from whom he has taken and distributed among others as a resource during this time where conquest has halted. The battle on the horizon has calmed the fire in their hearts for now it seems but who knows if that will last.

Name: Chancellor Lysander Courtois
Age: 27
Occupation: Chancellor of Erebonia, Heir of house Courtois
Biography:

The appointed Chancellor of Erebonia, representative of the state to other nations, leader of the military in times of war and crisis. An office dating all the way back to the birth of the nation, always held by an appointed official selected by the emperor themselves. So far this has always been the candidate recommended by the nobility even if the emperor is technically allowed to appoint anyone and Lysander is no different.

Eldest son of house Courtoi and as such deeply involved in politics from the moment of his birth the young man made a name for himself rapidly and as such earned himself the noble’s favor as their candidate for Chancellor, an office he entered with but a simple goal. “Realign the emperor with the wishes of the nobility” a task which has proven harder than imagined.

Yet the man is not dissuaded, and with war on the horizon once more his position seems secure for now.

Mass Production Machines:

Drakkhen II:

The mass production Panzer Soldat of choice for Erebonia a design based upon the Divine Knights they are easy to learn and easy to handle while remaining versatile giving them great potential for armed forces of many varieties. A wide variety of armaments are available for use with these machines meaning anyone who can step in can find their weapon of choice. Be it guns, swords or hammers.

Spiegel:

An enhanced machine for officers and higher ranks based on the Drakkhen. It has increased output and reaction speed but requires mastery to operate. In order to cover the Panzer Soldat's weak defensive capabilities, an instantly deployable Reactive Armor that repels fire was installed, but using it effectively is even more difficult.

Hector:

A unit that was designed to realize high output and defensive capabilities. It boasts 1.5 times the output and armor of the Drakkhen but has inferior velocity and mobility. A repeating cannon can also be installed in the shoulder unit. The newest model has slightly increased speed and mobility.

Kestrel:

A light unit that boasts high speed and mobility. The use of a vernier makes instantaneous jumping and high-speed movement possible. It can also handle airship attacks from high altitude. Defense was a difficult point, but the newest model has improved defenses in the joints.

Faction Name: Hexen Clan
Headquarters: Unknown
Leader: Crimson Roselia
Goals: ???
History:

Except from the Historia Erebonia vol 3: Myths and Ruins by Sabrina Reichenau
Chapter 3 - The Two Clans

... Legend speaks of an ancient conflict in the lands now known as Erebonia, two clans equally powerful fought as the world was ravaged around them. Two giants, commonly believed to be Mecha, seen in a bitter conflict as humanity fled into the stars beyond. Though the names of these clans have been lost to the ages many believe them to live on into the modern day.

The first of these two is created of what can only be called "Witches" by any measure, female spellslingers who were thought of as nothing more than myth for obvious reasons until the barrier between worlds weakened. Revealing that elsewhere, in a place so very close, there were those with these abilities. In turn modern scholars have begun reevaluating the possibility of their existence. Dubbing them the "Hexen Clan" for their mystical abilities. [cont.]

Name: Crimson Roselia
Age: Unknown
Occupation: Legendary Leader of the Hexen Clan
Biography:

(Cont'd)
The leader of this first mythical group is often referred to as "Crimson Roselia", allegedly a witch of incredible power though much details surrounding her remain unknown it has been found through investigating pre-cataclysm ruins that someone bearing the title, if not the name, of Crimson Roselia was in contact with the nations that existed before they vanished from this planet.

Records also indicate that these discussions ended on less than amicable terms.

Faction Name: Black Workshop
Headquarters: Unknown
Leader: Black Alberich
Goals: Sales of weapons and other goods, ???
History:

Before humanity left for the stars beyond those from the Black Workshop holed up underground around the same time the Controllers did however unlike the underground cities controlled by the infamous AI they did so willingly and without a 'protector'.

Except from the Historia Erebonia vol 3: Myths and Ruins by Sabrina Reichenau
Chapter 3 - The Two Clans

... The second clan has much less known about them, other than being craftsmen in the literal sense who live underground. Sculptors and inventors both for good and ill. Given the extensive artifacts of a time before found across the land of Erebonia the sole reason to doubt their existence lay in their peers before the modern era. Even then it was believed that these 'underground inventors' were simply a myth to hide one of the many companies under. [cont.]

Name: Black Alberich
Age: Unknown
Occupation: Director of the Black Workshop
Biography:

The name Black Alberich shows up frequently were one to dive into ancient records of companies long left in the dust by the League. A salesman, inventor, businessman. To them, a peer. Though from where these weapons came they could not tell only that the Black Workshop offered their finest work for the finest price. Or experimental sometimes unreliable work for mostly free.

(Cont'd)
Reinforcing this theory was the alleged leader of the Black Workshop, or at least its spokesperson 'Black Alberich'. Described at all times as a man with red eyes and grey hair clad in fine clothes but that is where all similarities end with each depiction as beyond that he can be scrawny, strong, tall, short and anywhere in between. As such it is believed that the 'Black Workshop' simply had a tradition of hiring albino individuals as their representative.
