A private corporation formed by Martian settlers to the Earth Sphere, Nergal Heavy Industries is a household name across Space, well known for its line of high quality consumer electronic goods. Although initially something of a boutique company, it has aggressively expanded into a variety of different fields through subsidiaries, acquisitions, and a high-risk, high-reward investment portfolio, leading to explosive growth the past ten years.
Nergal, unlike many of its competitors, avoided being bought out by the League of Ruling Companies, opting instead to pursue the development of its own proprietary technologies. As a consequence, in recent years it has come to be seen as both a desirable alternative for those dissatisfied with the League's dominance of the Colonial economy, as well as a vital regional business partner for those seeking to oppose them.
Their most recent product line, the Aestivalis and accompanying mobile battleship, have drawn much attention in the military industrial scene, and given their shared systems with the Jovian Lizards, has raised many an eyebrow. Still, they remain too valuable a commodity to be disposed of, and even the components of the League have at times seen fit to wine and dine them to eke out an advantage over their peers, or to "leak" potentially incriminating information to - a situation Nergal has often taken full advantage of.
It's rumored that many of the employees at Nergal are related to, or were directly employed by the former Martian Rayleonard Corporation, but no official investigation has ever been opened into the matter.
