History:
Formed out of the ashes of the Pax Economica, the League of Ruling Companies is comprised of the various megacorporations that once dominated the surface of Mars, specifically: Omer Science, GA Armaments America, Interior Union, Rosenthal, the Bernard and Felix Foundation, TORUS, and Algebra. While each of these alone is formidable, comparable even in their diminished state to an entire country's worth of economic power, together they are an unstoppable juggernaut.
...In theory.
In truth, not much has changed since the "golden age". The League's component corporations frequently take potshots at or otherwise attempt to sabotage one another, especially since their arrival in the Colonies. This is in part because of the overt influence Omer Science, widely perceived as saddling the former Rayleonard with the consequences of Alternative V, on the nature of the body. A distinct lack of trust permeates the League's upper ranks, and it is not uncommon for one or more of its many heads to decide to "go it alone" on a matter without first seeking the input of the others.
Even so... When its constituents are in full agreement with one another, the League is able to bring military force unmatched in the entire history of mankind to bear against its enemies, symbolized by both its stables of cutting-edge NEXTs and, when necessary, the massive and awe-inspiring Arms Forts.
Those who stand against giants rarely live to tell the tale.
